Degree Show
Christina Inkster graduated with a BA(Hons) Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2016.
When planning for her show the 'Tampon Tax' was in the headlines and this became the focus of her work. The 'Tampon Tax' is a tax on sanitary products, categorising them as "luxury goods“. It was also revealed that this tax was being used to fund charities and organisations committed to supporting women effected by gender based abuse.
Volunteering as an Assistant Artist at the time for Women’s Aid in both Dundee and Edinburgh, Christina used this experience to further support her practice and in response created an installation calling out the insidious nature of this ‘Tampon Tax’.
The University verbally awarded the installation: 'The Most Controversial Work of 2016.’
This work was the catalyst to Christina’s ongoing series of work: 'Private Collection'.
